the solution

The relationship with Atrium began in 2008 with payrolling services. Over time, the partnership grew to encompass Early Talent, IC Engagement and Direct Sourcing. While the company initially had about 200 interns (with some roles being managed by the company’s internal TA team and other roles being managed by an external provider), it eventually became too cumbersome, prompting the company to entrust the entire program to Atrium in 2013.

For the last 10 years, the Atrium Early Talent Administration team has worked to scale and enhance this program. Leveraging a branded applicant tracking system that Atrium licenses and manages, program services include internal education sessions for hiring managers, job postings and intake calls, matching resumes to roles, scheduling interviews, making offers, completing onboarding and pre-employment screening, and employing interns – all while providing weekly data analytics to stakeholders, supporting corporate equity targets and ensuring that compliance requirements are met. Once the 10-to-12-week summer internship is completed, Atrium manages the offboarding process and conducts surveys to collect feedback from hiring managers and interns to enable continuous improvement.

The Early Talent Program, administered by Atrium, has proven to be a cost-effective and successful recruitment strategy. It brings fresh perspectives to various teams at the company, fosters innovation, and ensures ongoing access to future leaders.

the results

In 2020, the executive leadership of the company formalized its dedication to equity by setting a target of hiring at least 50% of interns from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds for the Summer 2021 class of students. By leveraging target university partnerships at HBCUs and HSIs, along with key diversity partner organizations, Atrium is proud to have exceeded this objective each year since it was set.
