A global biopharma company sought to enhance the quality and efficiency of its Early Talent Program by engaging a partner to manage the placement lifecycle for interns and co-ops with a heightened focus on meeting Early Talent diversity targets.
Leveraging many years of experience managing internship programs in the life sciences space, in 2017, Atrium was chosen to serve as an extension of our client’s Early Careers Team. Assuming management of the intern and co-op placement lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and employing the student workers throughout the year, Atrium was able to bring forth best practices and technology to improve the overall operations of the program while enhancing manager and student satisfaction levels through concierge service.
Case Study: Enhancing Early Talent Recruitment for a Global Biopharma Leader
Industry: Biopharma
Service(s) Offered: Early Talent Administration
By 2021, the Early Talent Program had matured and grown significantly, and, as a consultative partner, our fully integrated Early Career team members were able to scale alongside it as the program became more complex.
An important area of emphasis for program excellence was targeted diversity goals. We worked hand-in-hand with diversity partner organizations and target universities to amplify the applicant pools and drive impact in this key area.
Atrium also implemented specialized recruitment programs to create pathways for students into full-time roles, with a keen focus on the expanding technology business and research data platform teams. Additionally, we identified and integrated top ATS technology, reporting analytics, and candidate assessment tools to improve the competitive recruitment process, while operating on network as an extension of the client’s systems.
We placed about 200 students annually into internship and co-op assignments throughout the year across business units such as R&D, Tech, Commercial & Supply Chain. Since 2021, we’ve met or exceeded the target of hiring 50% diverse talent annually. These achievements were a result of our team’s ability to nurture strong relationships with clients, candidates, and partners, understand the unique needs of the client, and embrace new technologies and processes. Our partnership with the client has deepened significantly, and Atrium has consistently received positive feedback for our ability to drive innovation and demonstrate agility as recruitment practices and initiatives evolve.
