Last week was a busy one on Capitol Hill.
The long-awaited, GOP healthcare reform bill was released, intended to repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Dubbed the American Health Care Act, the draft was made public on March 6th. But stay tuned, as back and forth revisions are expected from the House and Senate.
Also worth noting are three additional bills up for consideration that could affect the future legal landscape of HR:
The Preserving Employee Wellness Programs Act
H.R. 1313 seeks to protect employee wellness plans, clarify the rules on how to run them, encourage lower health care costs and promote a healthy workforce.
The Self-Insurance Protection Act
H.R. 1304 would preserve self-insurance and reaffirm long-standing policies that differentiate stop-loss insurance from health insurance.
The Small Business Health Fairness Act
H.R. 1101 would allow small businesses to join together through association health plans (AHPs) to offer employee health coverage.
In this ever-changing environment, staying informed is key.
